Stan Romanek Arrested For Allegedly Distributing Child Porn

Finally, I’ve been caught with my pants down. Literally.

Just when I thought I knew Ufology’s dirtiest secret of all,  Jack Brewer alerted me to this. He fully expects the conspiracy mill to start churning. Not me. I think this explains Stan’s puppet fetish. Let’s see the aliens get him out of this one….

Hope the child in question is safe.

UPDATE:

Despite what Lisa Romanek says (read her Facebook post in the comments section here), one of the charges against Stan is distribution:

  1. No, Jeremy, the dirtiest secret lies in an even darker recess. We may soon see it in all its glory.

Many disputed Mr. Romanek’s ideas solely on the basis of the scant evidence he offered. End of story. However, I anticipate we will see some seize on the serious criminal charges to cast aspersions on his work using a technique known as invited inference. And perhaps Romanek’s defenders will counter with charges a conspiracy is afoot. If this battle emerges, both sides will end up mired in sticky gray area mud.

Those who shout ‘Conspiracy!’ and admonish us to focus on the work and its merits will feel they are right. Unfortunately, that evidence did not produce much of a consensus before this ugly incident. Those arguing the basic nature of the person might be telling will likewise feel they are correct. For Romanek skeptics this is akin to shooting the dead guy, only the objective evidence now being used a weapon will not actually be confirmed until the court case is concluded. With objectivity such a subjective thing in this arena we can count on a protracted slugfest in the gray area.

And should this come to pass what will happen? No questions will be addressed in a meaningful way. In a microcosm of Ufology as a whole, the combatants will fight bitter battles that end in exhaustion, but never settle a thing. These Maginot lines will be drawn around issues that do not remotely resemble answerable questions. The dirtiest secret of all is that Ufology cannot resist deliberately fouling its own nest.

    • One aspect of his hoaxing lifestyle this does argue solidly against is the enlightenment bullshit. The “Stan’s important to us aliens… you must help him” type of lie he and his wife have been promoting to sustain themselves in this. (A hoaxer can’t live on puppet window footage alone. He must ingratiate himself in your heart. And it worked, as indicated by the shameful outpouring of “love” for them on Facebook.

  2. Here is Lisa’s response….sighhhhh

Lisa Romanek: Hi Jeffery, Unfortunately this is Stan. We have been cooperating with this investigation, we don’t have a choice. What I will tell you is this. Stan didn’t do this. The charge us not what the paper is saying, the media always messes it up. The charge its for possession of child porn. Luckily we have years of proof of the hacking and remote access of our computer system. It is or belief that is how they planted whatever is there. We have not been made aware, as we still do not have an attorney in place to advise us off what’s happening. But we will be taking the UFO stuff into the court room!!!! Be well…and thanks for asking with it attack as many others have done.

Good morning friends. I want to make a brief comment to you all regarding what has been happening the past couple of days. If you haven’t yet seen the article you will in time. And I refuse to share the twisted story of Stans arrest that was ran in the paper on my FB page. It is everywhere…

I will give you the basics…Last April a search warrant was served. On this past Wednesday a warrant was issued, Stan cooperated by turning himself in. The charge as far as we know (without having an attorney in place until next week) is of possession of…NOT distribution. He was released Thursday, and can not access internet for the time being…as a condition of his release.

Anyone who follows Stan is already aware of the harrassment, break-ins, hacking and remote access of our computers for starters that we have experienced.

It is our belief, that whoever has been accessing our system also left behind traces to verify the Office of Homeland Security tip that the police department received.

For those of you who have reached out for answers with love and concern … I hope this helps you understand what’s happening.

For those of you who live in fear and function in hate..please just unfriend us both and do not make this terrifying situation any worse with your ignorant threats and ugly statements. They will not be responded to and will be deleted and reported as abusive.

We will be taking UFOlogy into the courtroom. We know that this has EVERTING… to do with our being outspoken about the ET/UFO reality!

Thank you for your love and continued support…

    Lisa

    • I made this comment where Lisa Romanek’s statement first appeared:

      > we have years of proof of the hacking and remote access of our computer system

Years? During that time they did not try to protect themselves from these attacks? Such as turning off the remote access service of the operating service? Using a firewall? Installing anti-malware software? Contacting their IP provider, who could corroborate Ms Romanek’s claims?

      > But we will be taking the UFO stuff into the court room!!!!

Where it will be ruled immediately as irrelevant to the case.

      > We know that this has EVERTING… to do with our being outspoken about the ET/UFO reality!

If the state establishes the material was found on Stan’s computer, the defence must cast doubt on his guilt by demonstrating the material could have come from a remote computer. That is a plausible defence tactic. Suggesting there is a conspiracy against the Romaneks is both difficult to prove and immaterial to the charges.

  3. Thanks, all. Dr. Kokjohn makes good and valid points. High profile ufology figures could hypothetically be charged and convicted of reprehensible acts or, in contrast, be universally recognized as outstanding citizens; they could be disliked by a majority or beloved and embraced – and, universally, if their work is credulous and lacking merit, then their unsupported claims should be rejected.

There are those who rejected the work of Jacobs before they ever heard of Emma Woods; discounted the conclusions of Hopkins prior to Carol Rainey’s recent work, and recognized Romanek as being without conclusive evidence long before he caught the apparent attention of the DHS. While the work of Woods, Rainey and many more is very important to the genre, it is clear enough, indeed, that an ugly, ugly problem is that we collectively ever allowed it all to progress to its current state.

Jer’s also making an important point in a previous post: we allowed it to happen. It’s long past time to demand more accountability – and not wait for law enforcement to do it for us. We can – and should – ask reasonable questions, expect direct answers and proceed accordingly when left empty handed.

  4. Whether he is guilty or not. This kind of “evidence”, computer hard drives. Should not be allowed in a court of law, at least not on their own. You should have to have other compelling evidence. Computers connected to the internet are to easy to hack and remote control for those with the tools and know how. Any half-assed attorney should be able to get him a not guilty, if this is all they have on him.

    • They have him for distribution, not just storing on his machine. They didn’t just arrest him out of thin air, either. They confiscated him computer in April. One would hope that Homeland Security knows exactly what you’re talking about with the hacking problem and can figure that out.

  5. The CIA claims the only way to be sure a computer is secure from outside attacks is for it to be in a closet, unplugged. For what Stan found himself involved with, firewalls, modifying the operating system settings, etc. will not stop a good hacker or computer network analyst. I know this as a fact as I did this sort of work for the government for ten years.

You want a secure computer? Unplug it and remove the battery (if it has one).

  6. Interesting aspect of Romanek’s UFO stories is the child aliens he sees and has fathered. This arrest sure makes a person wonder why he is the only abductee with little kids in his fantasy.

    • Others have claimed to have sired star children and hybrids. In fact one woman recently claimed she has star grandchildren. It’s the cosmic Brady Bunch up there. He just stole the meme.

If it’s true that he originally set up the camera that captured the alien puppet in the window to catch a peeping tom in his daughter’s window… one wonders.

  7. If the allegations are true it would explain why he only wanted “True believers” at his house. Once I asked him if I come to his house and experience something for myself, and he had a fit and said no because my cousin was an FBI agent. That should tell you something. He has done this to several people who either have law enforcement, military back grounds, or have the necessary credentials to prove him a fraud.

I have been thinking about the whole DHS thing and it occurred to me that they take tips on their web site and the police report mentions a young girl at the house when Stan was arrested. There should be no girls at the house as Lisa’s two twin girls graduated high school years ago and vowed never to step foot in the house again.

I’ll bet DHS got a tip from the one twin who I have heard speak about Stan and I’ll bet that is where the tip came from. I won’t give the name of the twin or what she saw but I can tell you it was not child pornography but something a teen age girl who not put with from a step dad.

I hope the allegations are false because a lot of people around Stan are going to get hurt by this including Lisa’s son who still lives at home, not to mention Stan’s sister who is really sick and on disability herself. These charges though even if proven false will leave a lasting impression with neighbors and anyone dealing with that family. Lisa herself will be forever ostracized by anybody they have ever dealt with, except for the true believer and tin foil hat types.

No matter how the trial goes, the UFO community needs people like Stan to go away and get a real job like the rest of us.
